Their Story

Marcus Rivera spent a decade in corporate fitness — managing gym operations for a national chain, designing programs that optimized for retention metrics rather than client transformation. The work paid well. It also felt hollow.

“I could get someone to renew their membership. I couldn’t get them to change their life. Those are completely different skills.”

In 2021, Marcus enrolled in an NBHWC-approved health coaching program, earned his NBC-HWC credential, and immediately recognized a gap: the coaching credential validated his knowledge, but nothing validated how he ran his practice. How he handled client boundaries. How he maintained ethical standards when a client’s goals conflicted with their wellbeing.

He found ICONIC Board while researching professional standards for holistic practitioners. The Associate tier fit his stage — early in independent practice, committed to building right from the start.

Rivera Health Partners now serves the Miami-Dade community with a focus on bilingual health coaching for first-generation immigrants navigating the American healthcare system.
